Fictionary: Fob

Fictionary is a column showcasing beauty-related words that don't exist, but should.

A Fob gracing the runway at L'Wren Scott today.

Approach commitment to your lock length with all the enthusiasm of a New York man to a serious relationship: Enter the faux-bob, or Fob, for short. A flirty, cropped ‘do is yours--until you unpin it and return to your regularly scheduled tumbling Rapunzel mane. Here's how it was done throughout the fall 2012 shows at New York Fashion Week.

Theda Bara inspired the marcel-waved faux bobs Serge Normant sculpted behind the scenes at L’Wren Scott. For Oscar de la Renta, Orlando Pita fashioned a faux bob using T3 products for volume before fastening a bejweled satin ribbon around the hairline. At Derek Lam, Pita designed a 1960s-era teased, pinned back look on behalf of Phyto Professional and Beauty.com. Odile Gilbert’s take on the trend yielded a slightly disheveled texture, yet polished look, thanks to a slew of star-studded hair pins added for effect at Rodarte. For a flapper feel at Erickson Beamon, the hairstyle was smooth soft curls coiled with a small barreled curling iron and pinned underneath the nape.

Have you fashioned a Fob?
