Official Mascara Correspondent Ashleigh Ciucci takes JANE Maxlash Extreme Mascara for a test drive. Does she love it or loathe it? Find out...
To start, this lengthening mascara has two things going for it; it has one of my favorite brush shapes (stiff spiral) and a comb on the end to separate clumps. The spiral brush holds a lot of this gel-like formula. It's best to really work it into the roots and bring the product up through the tips. Otherwise, it gets a bit heavy. Because gel formulas tend to dry quickly, a second coat needs to come immediately after the first or it gets quite clumpy and flakey. Needless to say, the comb is there for a reason. I was able to get some nice nighttime drama with my afternoon touch-up, which is a plus.
And it washes off with just soap and water at the end of the day. While not my favorite mascara in the world, the end result is nice and I love the fine-toothed comb!--Ashleigh Ciucci
