Fictionary is a column showcasing beauty-related words that don't exist, but should.
Guys, 10 months out of the year, I eschew powder in favor of a dewy finish. But in this heat wave? Forget it. My oily skin is gleaming and not in a cute way. So I need to go to some lengths to enter The Matte-rix, a reality where I can exist without sweating off my makeup within minutes. The first step? Finding the right natural mineral foundation--and natural brand Alima Pure's got a new tool to make the process super simple.
In the tool, you simply answer several questions about your skin. At the end, the tool recommends a sample kit, which includes 4 or 5 foundation samples, a blush sample that will work with the foundations, a mini kabuki brush to apply the products and a coupon for a discount off of the purchase of Alima Pure's Basic Face Kit, all tucked into an Alima Pure bag. They can be blended or used singularly to pinpoint your perfect hue. Best of all? You need only a smidge at a time of the foundation and it blends beautifully.
Once you have tried the kit, one of two things will happen. What happens most often is that you will find your perfect match--which is how it worked for me, conveniently. If your match is not in your kit, simply end an email to makeupartist@alimapure.com, detailing how each shade was "off." I.e., the shades that represent your simulated skin reality, much like in The Matrix. Alima Pure's makeup artist will then select different shades and will mail them to you. From there, you will be able to choose The One, just like Neo was in the flick. And duh, I JUST realized the significance of the anagram of his name over a decade later.
Find your match here and enter The Matte-rix. And tell me: How are you staying matte this summer?
