Living for Nina Dobrev's fresh makeup and waterfall braid hairstyle at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards. Right? Vampire-worthy levels of hotness. Here, the beauty breakdown from her makeup artist Kindra Mann and hairstylist Riawna Capri.
Makeup
Says Kindra, “Nina loves the process of glamming up for the red carpet. The exciting result when the clothes, hair and makeup all come together to create a really unique and amazing look. Since she was attending The Teen Choice Awards we wanted something youthful and fun for the event. Her dress was a rich green-jeweled tone, and we decided we really wanted play up her eyes and keep the rest of the makeup fresh and glowy.”

“I started by prepping Nina's skin with Dior Hydra Life Sorbet Cream and Dior Skinsflash Primer. I washed a thin layer of Diorskin Fluid Foundation in #32 over her skin using my Beauty Blender sponge, and then went in with Diorskin Perfecting Concealer in 002 to cover any remaining areas. To warm the skin and give her a natural sun-kissed glow I applied Diorskin Natural Radiance & Glow powder in 004 along the cheeks and jaw line. Then I set the makeup using Diorskin Nude Loose Powder.
I really wanted Nina’s eyes to stand out against the rich jewel tone of her dress so I started off by filling in her brows using Diorshow Brow Styler, then applied a wash of Dior Eyeshadow in Gold Touch all over her lid with a wet brush to enrich the color. I applied Diorshow Waterproof Eyeliner along the upper lash line as well as the inside water line to frame the eyes and then finished off with a few coats of Diorshow Mascara in Black. We completed the look using Dior Rouge Lipstick in 483 for a natural lip hue.”
Hair
Riawna says, “Nina rocked a new braid at Teen Choice that I call the ‘waterfall braid’. The waterfall braid looks amazing on hair with dimension, but is not the easiest thing to do on your own.”

“First smooth out your hair with a smoothing balm, I used Wella Velvet Amplifier on Nina. Next curl your hair with a two inch iron to give it body, then spray all over with a texture spray, like Oribe Apres Beach Spray. Finally, create a halo braid. To cheat the waterfall braid, simply braid two braids from your part back to your crown, then criss cross them and bobby pin in place. An easy way to keep your hair out of your face, with a polished, effortless look!”
What do you think? I love this for an easy, breezy summertime date night beauty concept.
