Sparkle, Neely, sparkle: This is the 2012 BBJ Holiday Gift Guide. For more gift ideas, click here.
The title is inspired by everyone's favorite drinking game, Kings. Remember when you drew a nine, you busted a rhyme and ten was always to the men? Anyway. As I say annually when I post my men's holiday gift guide, men and math are a mystery. Here's to hoping in 2013 both become less so for all of us, and here are my ten picks for the gentleman in your lifestyle this holiday season.
This reasonably priced set features a shave regimen hand-picked by the grooming gurus at Anthony Logistics. It includes Glycolic Facial Cleanser, Pre Shave Oil, Shave Cream, After Shave Balm and a luxury dopp kit. The best part? A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this product will be donated to prostate cancer research.
2. Kiehl's Men's Refueling Kit ($42)
Gentlemen uniformly appreciate Kiehl's dependable products and no-fuss apothecary-style packaging. If he's ready for a year of great skin, he'll love this kit, which includes an Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap, Facial Fuel Energizing Moisture Treatment for Men, Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash and Facial Fuel Sky Flyin' Foaming Multi-gel.
3. Braun Series 7 ($189)
The words "series 7" still instill me with fear, as at my last financial gig, my boss kept threatening to force me to take the dreaded test as one of my annual "measurable and obtainable goals above and beyond my daily workload." What she didn't know was that I had the equivalent of a full-time job above and beyond my daily workload in the form of BBJ and also? I don't speak number. I still freak out anytime anyone mentions it but anywhoodle, in terms of shaving, the Braun's Series 7 is IT and has been engineered and lab-tested to last SEVEN YEARS. Here's to hoping he's still with you when the thing finally fizzles.
4. Personalized Ralph Lauren Big Pony Fragrance For Men ($67.50)
Ralph Lauren Fragrances is offering “Create Your Own” customizable bottles for a more personal gift giving experience. The “Create Your Own” option is complimentary with any purchase of The Big Pony Collection Fragrance for Men or Women. With a 10-character limit, you can engrave a full name, simple monogram of short message onto the glass bottle that best embodies the recipient’s personal style.
5. Hugo Boss Boss Bottled Night ($50)
The first thing you need to know is that Ryan Reynolds is the face of it. Let's draw as many parallels to your man as possible to RyRey, mmkay? The second thing you need to know is that it smells ragingly virile and comes in a hot black bottle that'll look great on his dresser.
6. Birchbox Man Subscription ($20/month)
Whether he's metrosexual or even retrosexual, he'll enjoy deluxe samples of grooming gifts and other extras like watches, socks and tech gear.
7. Woodgrain Leather Coasters ($22)
If your man is in the Venn diagram of people who are manly and yet also are deeply concerned about maintaining their coffee table's fine mahogany integrity, then this is the perfect gift.
8. Teroforma Whisky Stones ($20)
One thing I do know about men is that they spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about how to keep things cold without watering them down. Voila, an easy, reusable ice-cube alternative.
9. James Bond 007 Fragrance Collection ($30-$40)
For your favorite Anglophile, GQ-subscribing, well-groomed gentleman, the ultimate Bond enthusiast gift.
10. Gillette Fusion Proglide Performance Pack With Sports Illustrative Subscription ($10)
Contains all his shaving essentials and a bonus mag subscription, all for the incredible price of ten dollars.
