Marie-Laure on Bastille Day. |
Marie-Laure Fournier is a national treasure. She is at the helm of her own PR firm, Fournier Communications, and was one of the first to understand the influence of bloggers. She represents some of the most fabulous brands like Orlane (get a Lightbox already, for the love), Agent Provocateur and Talika. Though she's French, she is a real-life replica of one my favorite characters in the history of television, Edina Monsoon of Absolutely Fabulous. Just swap out the "sweetie-darlings" for "cherie" and sprinkle in a side of "bisous."
She is always herself, always hilarious and always massive amounts of fun. Just know that a dinner with her will always lead to your barely being able to attend work the next day. Hangover City, you'll be the mayor. She cannot even be bothered not to sprinkle her English with a few select French words every couple paragraphs, making my time with her more useful than joining the Alliance Française for maintaining my French language skills. Here, Marie-Laure's Five Rules For Life, in her words. She's one of my favorite people and she's sure to become one of yours once you read 'em.
1. Always be nice to stewardesses.
Compliment them on their haircut or eye shadows. It will help you to get an extra pillow and in case the plane crashes, you more than likely will be in the safety boat.

2. Work to live and do not live to work.
I personally love to travel, the moment that I can take a day off, I will jump on a six-hour flight to an exotic place. Each time I sit my bosom [Ed. note: I'm sure she means bottom, but it's so much more hilarious this way. Plus, who can be sure?] on an expensive transit, a light bulb appears to me and says “you see, Cherie, it all makes sense now.”
3. Be faithful to your friends, never to your fragrance.
If perfumers wanted you to wear only one fragrance, they would not launch a new one every minute and a half.
4. Spend money on nice lingerie.
If no one else sees it, it will at least give you the self-confidence to feel sexy, get a glow on your face and attract the eyes of the beholder.
5. It is OK if you cannot do everything.
Wonder Woman was invented by the same kind of woman who wrote "Fifty Shades Of Gray"… a very bored housewife.

Any kind is the good kind, chocolate or other included, use your imagination. (PS. I know what you are thinking naughty girl, I was only talking about a mask once a week…)
Thanks, M-L! Stay tuned for more Five Rules.
"Five Rules," is a series on Beauty Blogging Junkie in which I ask others to share their five rules for life about anything and everything. You can learn a lot about a person by reading which five things govern their actions, no?
