Get the Perfect Evening Makeup Look in 5 Steps

Going from desk to dinner with little time to primp? Whether it’s an impromptu night out or a last-minute big business meeting on the calendar, frequently we have to get gorgeous on the fly. Here's how to get from boardroom to barroom in 5 simple steps.

Step 1: Start by evening out your palette. Simply apply a little foundation or tinted moisturizer over your existing makeup and tap on concealer over it where necessary.

Step 2: Refresh and deepen your eye makeup. During the day, we can all get away with a neutral shadow and a tiny bit of smudged liner and mascara. At night, go for some "Dynasty"-level drama. Apply a deeper shadow in a shade that compliments your eye color. Try plum or purple for green eyes, deep blue for brown peepers, copper for blue ones. Smoke it up by concentrating more pigment closest to the lashline and blending as you move toward the crease. Then, apply black liner at the lashline with either a liquid or pencil eye liner before following with a couple coats of your favorite mascara on top and bottom lashes.

Step 3: Take care of any eye shadow fallout under the eyes with a Puffs tissue either by itself or with a bit of eye makeup remover, if necessary. Then, sweep on some blush onto the tops of your cheekbones for a subtle effect. I like a straight-up bright pink powder blush for this look.

Step 4: Apply a nude- or rose-hued lipstick (a color brighter than that will overpower your sexy eye concept) straight on from the tube, but use a Puffs tissue to blot so that it stays on longer (much like a stain) before slicking on another application. That’s it! Unleash the sexy on an unsuspecting world.
