5 Makeup Looks For Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend is not only the official kick-off to a fun summer, it’s also a fantastic time to showcase your new summer makeup shades. Warm-weather cosmetic concepts are all about low-maintenance, hot-weather-proof effects, with a natural complexion and high pigment color placed minimally and strategically on the face. Here are my favorite BBQ-ready looks.

1. Bronze Smokey Eye
If you’ve got light eyes in particular, a bronze smokey eye will enhance your blue, hazel or green gaze perfectly. I like CoverGirl Smokey ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire. Skip liner with this one and opt for two coats of black mascara.

Tip: Mix both sides of the CoverGirl product for a bespoke bronze.

2. Cobalt Cat Eye
A full year later, I'm still thinking about Pat McGrath's epic cobalt cat eye on the fall 2012 runway. And I'm still implementing it today. It's a perfect look to modernize a traditional ’60s stare. Just draw a tapered thick line with a wing at the outer corners that’s as dramatic as you're comfortable with.

Tip: If the line is still too thick at the ends, simply take a cotton swab dipped in makeup remover and shape the flicks to your liking for a customized cat eye.

3. Popsicle Lips
I adore a stained lip that looks as if it could have resulted from a sweet summertime treat. You can go pink, coral or red with this trend. Some of my favorite ways to create this punchy lip look is to apply a stain that’s layered with a gloss on top. Try CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Wild Berry Wink, Flirty Nude or Everbloom Kiss and layer with CoverGirl Lipslicks Lipgloss in Clear. The result? A pout that’s sure to last through lunch!
