Letting your own skin shine through is one of the subtlest ways to enhance your makeup look while making an impact. From lips to eyes and cheeks to nails, here’s what you need to know about creating a minimal makeup look that won’t wash you out. Get ready to expand into neutral territory with these five tips.
1. Even Out Your Skin Tone
To keep skin looking natural, it’s best to start out with a BB or CC Cream. CoverGirl CG Smoothers BB Cream has occupied prime real estate in my makeup bag this year. This tinted cream manages to melt seamlessly into the complexion and delivers a flawless canvas with a radiant finish.

Another bonus: CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation can be used as a nude/neutral blush if you use one in a shade 3 hues darker than your skin tone.
2. Try Nude Eyes
Because nude eye makeup tends to be a shade lighter than your natural skin tone, a good primer will help bring out the color so that it’s not tempered by dark spots and discoloration. Once you’ve applied a shimmery nude wash of color all over the lids, pair the shadow with a chocolate brown or black eyeliner for definition. A deep brown or black shadow applied with a slanted liner brush to lashlines will yield a more natural effect than that of a pencil.

3. Get Nude Lips
When “going nude,” a common misconception is that one can only use flesh tones on either the lips or the eyes. Try layering a bit of pink lipstick to your nude lip color to bring out your pout. To ensure your lip look will last the night, first line the lip with a nude pencil in a shade as similar as possible to the lipstick or gloss you're using. Try CoverGirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Marble with CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipliner in Seduce for pale skin, and CoverGirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Muscat with CoverGirl LipPerfection Lipliner in Smoky for darker tones.Read the rest over at P&G Everyday: http://bit.ly/14aLN3y.

Great article Amber! Fantastic tips that are easy to follow.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, these are some great tips especially with the summer heat intensifying. So glad you shared them! I've let my make-up routine dwindle down to nothing. Lately I've felt a bit lost. I'll have to try this out!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, ya think this was sponsored by CoverGirl?
ReplyDeleteAnon, it wasn't sponsored, it's content I wrote for P&G Everyday, which it says. I'm just promoting the content on my blog with a link to the original article.
ReplyDeleteI love this. It reminds me of that episode of full house when DJ started Jr High...am I showing my age? Anyway, Rebecca said the trick to wearing make up is looking like you're not wearing any at all.
