4 Sultry Looks for a Hot Summer Night

Hot summer nights aren't just something you hear about in legendary high school musicals. To infuse a little charge into your next summertime evening event, try switching up your makeup look a bit. Here, four sultry looks for a sizzling summer night.

1. Metallic Smoky Eye
One of the very best summer looks ever is a softly defined gold, bronze or silver lid and mega mascara. I actually like skipping liner with this look in favor of an elongated wash of shadow to simulate a subtler cat eye effect. Gold and bronze shades look divine on green or blue eyes, while silver immensely flatters brown or hazel eyes. Try CoverGirl’s Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire, Silver Sky and Citrus Flair.

2. Neon Lips
A nude face save for mascara and an electric pop of pigment on the pout is easy and wearable for a steamy summer evening. And yet, it still yields a polished effect, especially if applied via a lip pencil.
Tip: Apply a layer of CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipliner in Radiant all over the lip before layering on your neon lipstick to neutralize the baseline hue for a sharper pop of color.
As for lipstick, one of my favorite brights is CoverGirl LipPerfection LipColor in Spellbound. This look is perfect for hot nights when your hair is up: The extra drama of the bold lip compensates for an unstructured top knot or casual ponytail. Above, I'm wearing neon poppy lips with otherwise minimal makeup.

3. Teal Eyes
Straight-up blue shadow skews a bit ’80s — and not in an ironic way. But teal feels fresh and modern. There are three ways to rock it:
You can opt for a streak of color either on the top or bottom lash line with a good eye pencil.
A concentrated application of shadow up to the crease of the eye is beautiful. Try CoverGirl Queen Collection Eye Shadow Quad in Blue Notes to achieve this look.
Lastly, a colored mascara in teal by itself or paired with a black-lined eye will make your eyes sparkle in the twilight.

Tip: Apply on the top and bottom lashes for a dramatic evening look.
