I've always been inspired by ’60s makeup — in fact, movies from that era are among the most viewed in my film collection. There are tons of great makeup techniques from the time period, so I whittled down my favorites for lips and eyes, as it seems cheeks were quite subdued during that time.
Cat Eyes and a Bouffant
For a classic ’60s effect, pair your blackest cat-eye liner with a bouffant. In my long quest for the perfect cat-lined lid, I’ve found that liquid liners work best. Try CoverGirl LineBlast 24 Hour Liner in Enduring Black.

Beauty Tip: Apply liner while looking down at a compact mirror to avoid accidental gaps between your lid and your lashes. Perfect your line with a pointed cotton swab dipped in eye makeup remover.
Doll-Like Bottom Lashes
While vaguely theatrical, glamorously exaggerated bottom lashes instantly evoke a ’60s glambiance. Draw on your bottom lashes with a black pencil and a heavy hand — subtly simply isn't the goal here. Try CoverGirl Liquline Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire, which boasts an elegant glide.

White Shadow
White shadow has certainly fallen out of circulation since the ’60s in favor of shimmery beige shades, but to achieve an authentic mod look, it's vital. A clean wash of white on the lid applied with a big fluffy eye shadow brush will do the trick. I like CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Blazing White.

Socket Liner
Socket liner need not be relegated only to the late ’60s! I love the look because it gives the eyes a sunken effect with minimal effort. Take a black liquid liner like CoverGirl LineExact Liquid Liner in Very Black and simply draw a line along your crease so it recedes when your eyes are open. Leave it as is: no smudging. Keep your eyes closed a minute or two so it can dry properly.

Beauty Tip: If you're pressed for time, you can blast your closed eyes with your blow-dryer set on cool.
